Entrails - New Merchandise, Upcoming Album

One of my favourite bands, Entrails, will be releasing a new shirt design at the end of this month. This one is just as sick as the 'Cemetery Horrors' shirt design. With the promise of a new album release in the next several months, this feels like a teaser of what's to come. While the title hasn't been released yet, I can't wait to get my hands on some new music, and hopefully to add this shirt to my collection as well. If this band brings forth any more awesome merchandise, my entire spending money budget might go right out the window.

A larger image of this particular shirt can be found through Entrails' Facebook page, or from TPE-Merch's Facebook page.

The next few images comprise my current Entrails merchandise/music collection. Beyond having music that I love, I'm also a big fan of the artwork associated with the albums. Like most death-metal art, it's morbidly fascinating.

Front & back of my hoodie, plus the Cemetery Horrors shirt.

CD releases, plus a patch that will migrate to a vest.

Vinyl, still in the plastic. (Where it will likely stay).

'Sold Out' - The Words You Don't Want To Hear

'Sold Out': Those are words I hate seeing when I find a piece of merch that catches my eye. This was the case today, as it appears as though I was a few hours too late. I would have loved one of these as I have been searching for a Vampire patch to add to my vest for some time now. I couldn't justify the price of a vinyl when the album was released in order to get a patch either. (If I'm not mistaken, patches were released with the vinyl editions of the self-titled album). I have my fingers crossed that at some point in the near future I'll be able to find a Vampire patch, along with a few other death metal ones I've been scouring the web for. It would be nice to find them all in one place, but I've concluded that's nearly impossible.

These shoes also caught my eye online today after finding a similar pair in one of my favourite (non-metal related) stores last week. Of course they didn't have my size, but I'll be on the lookout for a similar pair in the fall as something like these look comfortable and fairly versatile in terms of potentially wearing to work and yet still being able to wear out or match the clothing I already have.  I love heels, even though I don't wear them often. I still have my eye on a pair of women's New Rock heels in the future,  but something a little more affordable would definitely suffice.

Entrails: A Wicked Shirt Design

Entrails recently posted this t-shirt design on their Facebook page, stating that it would be available at Maryland Death Fest. I believe there was also a comment suggesting that if it sold well, the design would become available in their webshop. Fingers crossed that it happens, because it is a sick design and I'd love to accompany my Entrails hoodie with this particular shirt.

T-shirt Tuesday: Round One

With the more mundane things in life getting in the way, I find that it's difficult to create the time to write anything interesting. T-shirt Tuesday seems to be a popular topic, so I figured I'd give it a try.

Inspiring Women Involved In The Metal Scene

I happened to catch a short documentary segment on Global TV’s 16x9 program entitled ‘Black Metal’ the other night. While the term ‘black metal’ typically brings to mind that particular sub-genre of metal, this is about something entirely different. Namely, black women involved in the metal scene. The story contains interviews with MilitiA Voxx, vocalist of Judas Priestess (a heavy metal tribute band) and Laina Dawes. Laina is the author (amongst many other credentials) of the book ‘What Are You Doing Here?’, chronicling black female musicians and fans in the metal world.

Both women have experienced the same sentiments revolving around their apparent inability to fit anywhere into a scene traditionally dominated by white males. From this short documentary, and other interviews and creative endeavours that both have been involved in, it is apparent that both MilitiA and Laina are as passionate, if not more so, about metal than anyone else in the scene. It’s worth giving the the program a quick view. If nothing else, it leads one to at least think about gender and racial stereotypes.

I am still meaning to read ‘What Are you Doing Here?’, as I am interested in the perspective that it can provide. With Laina’s presentation at the Noctis festival in Calgary in September 2013, she again proved how passionate and fully approachable she is regarding the work she has done. I was impressed, and thus am looking forward to eventually picking up a copy of her book for myself.

Fanny Janssen is another young woman currently making waves in the metal world. Although not quite in the traditional sense. She is the talented seamstress behind Obscura Morgana, creating unique viking and folk metal themed clothing.

Reading an interview that was recently published with Fanny provides some insight into the creative process behind her work. Her work inspires me to want to sit behind my own sewing machine and attempt something creative, although I can’t ever see myself doing something quite as profound as what she has created.

New Rock Boots and Shoes

I recently spent hours polishing and applying leather conditioner to both pairs of my New Rock boots. The pair on the left has remained looking relatively new through almost six years of fairly frequent wear in mosh pits and every type of unfavorable weather. I love New Rock boots. Although expensive, the quality is evident.

The next time I feel as though I can massively indulge myself, I have discovered that New Rock also makes some fantastic pairs of women's heels. The few below have definitely caught my eye:

Septum Jewelry

I might have to consider buying some different jewelry for my septum piercing, just to change it up every once in a while. While these are neat, I have doubts that some of them are available in a small enough gauge, and it's been ages since I've been to a tattoo or piercing shop. Having a retainer with shorter posts, so that it will actually comfortably flip up, might be useful as well.

Modification Apprehension

Out of the numerous band shirts I've managed to amass over the years, these ones are in need of serious  modification. Why? They are all men's size large or extra-large, which leaves me swimming in extra fabric. I've had plans to modify several shirts for some a very long time now, but can't seem to find the time required, or get over the apprehension at potentially destroying a shirt and creating something completely unwearable. I think a few of these may be a project for this winter...

Gothic Clothing

A few more clothing finds, although the sizing is a bit small for my liking.
I could complain for hours about how not all of us fit into a size four, or have 13 inch calves when trying on women's boots, but I do suppose it keeps the budget from being entirely blown on clothing and footwear.

Some of the most unique pants I've seen in a while.

I'm left wondering if I possess the sewing skills to one day alter a pair of jeans into something similar.

Resisting the Urge to Self Indulge

If I had the luxury of being self indulgent at the moment, this would be high on the priority list. Sometimes I can't resist the urge to online 'shop' for things that I can't actually afford. Especially when most of the gothic-styled clothing that I like tends to come from Britain and other European countries.
(While this is supposed to be a metal blog, it seems appropriate for a female metal head to have a post or two about clothing...)

Clothing

I love looking at clothing. I probably don't really need any more clothing. Sometimes I just find cool things that I want, and want to share. I know this is supposed to be a metal blog, but I like clothing, and some clothing is pretty damn metal. Here's a few sweet finds:

Pentragram leggings. What more can be said about those? I love them. I'm starting to like leggings more since they're versatile and it's possible to find some really neat ones.
My only complaint about the awesome leggings that I've been finding lately: They're so expensive for being your typical spandex/cotton blend. I don't know how putting an awesome print on them raises the price so much, but if people like me are occasionally willing to shell out money to have a pair or two of unique leggings, I guess the prices will never drop.

The jeans: If I had the opportunity to try these on in person, I'd be looking to buy them. I don't dare order jeans online unless I know how they fit, considering the vast differences in fit in every pair of pants. Perhaps it's better to be safe than be sorry. The back of the legs lace, and they're just a metal looking pair of jeans, paired with the right band shirt. I suppose one can dream, can't they?

Now I realize that this Amon Amarth graphic isn't exactly a piece of clothing, but it's pretty sick. If it were on a t-shirt, I would also consider getting my hands on it. It's not that often I find something with neon green in a style I'd normally wear, and this meets that criteria.
(For all I know, it could have been, or could be, a shirt that I haven't found yet).

Well, I suppose this contributes to the random part of my blog. Like I said, sometimes things just need to be shared, and since I don't see any point in myself having a Tumblr account, this is as good a place as any to share random, metal related things that I run across.
